The British Isles offer a wide variety of breathtaking places. From magnificent castles and timeless cathedrals to mysterious Stonehenge and from the beautiful Scottish Highlands to the “Emerald Isle”, Ireland, our itinerary combines the best selection of must-see sights. Tour with us the secret wartime tunnels deep under the Dover Castle, and travel with our caravan through the spectacular countryside of the Scottish Highlands. Enjoy the breathtaking views from the Cliffs of Moher and on our Ring of Kerry tour. Imagine yourself watching the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, visiting Shakespeare’s birthplace or listening to music in an old-fashioned corner pub in Dublin.

Day 1

We meet you at the airport in Duesseldorf, Germany and you get a transfer to your comfortable hotel. In the afternoon you meet your fellow caravanners at our first briefing. Then we host our delicious welcome dinner.

Day 2

After a breakfast buffet we pick up the rental motorhomes, stock up with groceries at a supermarket and we have an easy drive on the autobahn to Antwerp, Belgium.

Day 3

Today we visit the interesting old town center of Antwerp with its impressive Cathedral, lively squares and beautiful old guild houses. On our way to Calais we stop in Dunkirk to visit the WWII museum where we learn about “Operation Dynamo” and the evacuation of over 330,000 allied soldiers from the Dunkirk beaches in 1940.

Day 4

After a pleasant ferry ride across the Channel we arrive in Dover, England. Dover Castle, which rises on the cliffs 400 ft above the port, is one of England’s oldest and best known castles. During our visit we see the deep underground hidden extensive network of secret wartime tunnels. In the afternoon we have an easy drive to our RV park at the outskirts of London.

Day 5

On our all day sightseeing tour we see the highlights of London such as St. Paul’s Cathedral, Big Ben and the Parliament buildings, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace and the colorful Changing of the Guard ceremony. We host a 3-course lunch in a traditional London pub.

Day 6

On our free day we can take the local bus and tube (subway) from our campground right into the center of town. There you might discover more of the exciting sights, museums and galleries of London on your own.

Day 7

In Oxford, a university town since the 11th Century, a local guide shows us some of the famous colleges as we stroll the cobblestone streets. We end the day with a delicious dinner in an old, cozy pub.

Day 8

An entertaining tour introduces us to Britain’s largest palace, Blenheim Palace, where Winston Churchill was born. Then we have a scenic drive to the beautiful Cotswold Hills and its little medieval market towns.

Day 9

On our guided tour through the streets of Shakespeare’s Stratford-Upon-Avon we see his birthplace and his grave before we head further north, to York.

Day 10

We tour the enormous and magnificent Minster (cathedral) of York which is located in the heart of the old city. After that we might stroll through the pretty streets of the old town before we leave for Durham.

Day 11

On our way to Scotland we visit the remainder of Hadrian’s Wall, a structure built in Roman times. Later on we tour the impressive ruins of Jedburgh Abbey before we drive to Edinburgh.

Day 12

Let’s explore Edinburgh! Bustling Princes Street, the Royal Mile and a visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia are all included on our sightseeing tour. In the afternoon there is free time for exploring on your own or shopping around Castle Hill before we meet again for a delicious dinner. Then we enjoy an evening of bagpipes, traditional songs, spirited Highland dancing and kilts galore.

Day 13

Today we head north to the Highlands. On our way we visit Scone Palace with its magnificent gardens and maze. Then we find out how they make Scotch Whisky at a traditional Distillery including a tasting. Our campground for this night is situated on the grounds of Blair Castle.

Day 14

A day filled with highlights is waiting for us! On our guided tour of beautiful Blair Castle we see antique furniture and collections of china, weapons and portraits. Then we traverse the impressive landscape of the Grampians on our way to mysterious and legendary Loch Ness. We try to spot Nessie on our cruise on a sonar equipped boat. Later we drive along the lovely shoreline of Loch Ness to our campground. We host a hearty dinner at a local pub.

Day 15

Our scenic drive takes us along shimmering lochs and rugged glens. Have your camera ready when we enter the Great Glen beneath Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis. After noon we come to bonnie Loch Lomond located in the Trossachs National Park. The magnificent landscape has inspired many writers and artists.

Day 16

In Gretna Green, located on the Scottish side of the English border, we visit the famous Blacksmith’s workshop where blacksmiths have forged a bond between couples over the anvil for centuries and weddings are still held. Later we arrive in England’s lovely Lake District.

Day 17

Today we enjoy a cruise in a classic boat on the Derwentwater. Then we have a scenic drive to Chester.

Day 18

Chester, with its impressive cathedral, half-timbered houses and ancient town walls, is definitely a town to enjoy. After our sightseeing tour and a delicous hosted lunch you have time to explore the little alleyways on your own.

Day 19

This morning we have a beautiful drive through Wales before we board our comfortable ferry and cruise across the Irish Sea to Dublin.

Day 20

A sightseeing bus picks us up at the campground and brings us to the highlights of Dublin, the City Hall, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Trinity College with its 1200 year-old Book of Kells and the Old Library. You have some free time after our hosted lunch in Dublin’s fun filled quarter, Temple Bar.

Day 21

Going to the west coast we experience the unique limestone plateau of the Burren. Along scenic byways we come to Doolin, a little village at the shore of the Atlantic. From our campground we might watch the waves splashing against the cliffs or visit the little old pub and try some Guinness.

Day 22

Our first highlights today are the spectacular views from and of the marvelous Cliffs of Moher. Then we tour Bunratty Castle, built in 1425, the most complete and authentic medieval fortress in Ireland. Within the grounds of Bunratty Castle is the Bunratty Folk Park where 19th Century life is vividly recreated in a living village and rural setting.

Day 23

Today we have an exciting day as our coach picks us up for a tour of one of the most scenic drives of Europe, around the famous Ring of Kerry. Brightly colored farm houses, the Black Mountains, the shimmering Lakes of Killarney, Queen Victoria’s Ladies View and the lush vegetation are parts of this breathtaking drive. A traditional lunch is included.

Day 24

Today we will visit Blarney Castle where you might kiss the magical Stone of Eloquence.

Day 25

A tour of the famous Waterford Crystal factory shows us how the crafts people transform glowing balls of crystal into perfectly exquisite shapes. We meet the master cutters and engravers and hear about the history of Waterford Crystal. Then on to the lively little town of Kilkenny, considered by many people to be the most beautiful town in Ireland. We tour the imposing Kilkenny castle and enjoy dinner in a restaurant.

Day 26

On our way to Wexford a local guide shows us the ruins of the interesting Abbey of Jerpoint.

Day 27

This morning we board a ferry and arrive in Wales in the early afternoon. After an easy drive we arrive in Cardiff, capital of Wales.

Day 28

The outstanding collection of old farmhouses, workshops, stores and houses set up in the open air Museum of Welsh Life in the outskirts of Cardiff is our first destination today. Then we cross the Mouth of the Severn over a mighty bridge and drive to England’s best preserved Georgian city, Bath.

Day 29

Our sightseeing in Bath includes a visit to the ancient Roman Baths and Pump Room. Then you are free to explore this beautiful town on your own before we traverse the green countryside to the mysterious ancient stone monoliths of Stonehenge.

Day 30

This morning we tour the Historic Dockyard in the harbor of Portsmouth and visit Nelson’s sailing ship the HMS Victory. While exploring the ship we see the Great Cabin where the battle of Trafalgar was planned and the spot where Nelson died.

Day 31

Today we have a nice drive along the coast. We visit the beautiful little town of Arundel and drive through well-known British seaside resorts such as Hastings, with its elegant villas along the promenade.

Day 32

A short ferry ride brings us to the continent where we visit Bruges, arguably the most beautiful city in Belgium. We visit the old town and take a tour of the canals. Taste the local specialty, chocolate, and get tempted by the laces you might buy here.

Day 33

We will leave Bruges in the morning and head for Cologne in Germany.
 

Day 34

We tour the famous cathedral of Cologne and take a Rhine cruise. The afternoon is at leisure.

Days 35 & 36

After returning our rental motorhomes a shuttle brings us to our comfortable hotel. In the evening we meet for our farewell dinner. The next morning after breakfast a shuttle brings you to the airport.
